Sports: Order Restored! (Hats off to the Huskers)

I am STILL PUMPED about the Huskers' 32-28 victory over Michigan in the Alamo Bowl last night. To paraphrase a sports cliche, nothing erases the pain of the past as much as winning, plus it was a truly exciting game (notwithstanding the lousy officiating). To end the season at 8-4, with victories over Kansas State, conference arch-foe Colorado and a solid Michigan team that had beat Penn State and Iowa, is a magnificent accomplishment. Hats off to the players, Coach Callahan, the staff and trainers, the band, the cheerleaders and everyone else who had a role, however seemingly inconsequential, in helping the Huskers achieve success on the football field this past season!

Movie Review: "Munich"

Steven Spielberg's "Munich" is an excellent film and can be viewed in 2 ways. There is the debate about retribution, which provides an ongoing moral undergirding to the action scenes. Arguments can be made on both sides of the retribution debate, and I don't really want to go into that here. The movie will, however, make you think about it, as Spielberg does no preaching and lets the audience make up their own minds. Rather, for now I would like to focus on the action aspect of it, which is great. The planning, preparation and implementation of a disposal action is intense, and the violence can be sudden and sharp. The acting is great all around, as are the locations and costumes (Louis is a great character). While it addresses serious topics, in this case it's just a very well-done, entertaining movie, so enjoy it in that sense if nothing else.
